Despite this level bordering on plagiarism I gave it a go. Completing it was not as easy or consistent as Ricko's 1x1x1 level. In fact I had the ball fall in the wrong direction and even roll out past the motors at times. Adding the Spoiler: Name of exploit Springboard Stair exploit was more a tedium than a fun puzzle element. It's hard to add that to a level while still finding a way to elegantly encourage its use. Thus you jeopardize alienating those that don't know it. I also found a third way to get on the ball: Spoiler: Third way And that is to close the gate, send the ball against it, and have B do a Sidestep Springboard Stair exploit and then walk onto the ball. Finally, controlling the double-draggable on a rotor was cumbersome as it gets jammed/jarred by hitting the stone blocks and the floor. Oh, and why did you use fence blocks when rail extensions would suffice? Same for a metal cylinder or grass blocks - the variety in this case made the level less attractive than its potential in my opinion. So altogether I was rather let down by the art, the inconsistencies, difficulty in playing, and similarity to an existing level. I like your effort though and am sure you have some more original ideas. Cheers.
Bufff, I still remember the feeling when I saw Ricko's 1x1x1. I was shocked. It was really an original idea. Honestly, if you had this idea without seeing that one... congrats! The issue I see in this one is the game play. It's too tricky (sequence of SS) and a bit random. For instance I won without the ball... just throwing B to the win. Anyway, thanks for sharing!
@nGord Thank you for your comments. Of course, one point is worth mentioning, and this is not a plagiarism i think. The title explains clearly that this level was inspired by one of the designs of Ricko.I'm designing another levels that are inspired by some of the levels of the old members here. Of course, I will certainly mention them. And my changes will look like a new level. . But your other description Acceptable. Non-uniformity in designing is one of my design features.
@hadi - I agree. If I thought it was full blown plagiarism I would have deleted the upload. I noticed your "inspired by" message which was appreciated. The reason that I said that it "bordered on" plagiarism is because two core elements from one Ricko level were borrowed and put in the same level again. Sure, borrowing the card illusion trick of having a near empty card is one thing that could be fun to pay homage to. Having B roll on a ball across a span of white space is something else that could be replicated to fun effect. It's just that when both are the key elements of one level and they are both borrowed at the same time and become both the key elements of another level, then it starts to look like plagiarism. Unfortunately I have had to delete levels in the past that were simply too similar and there is one that is still bugging me. Your addition of a zapper bot and an exploit, although overused and not adding any real fun value, did make the level just barely different enough in my opinion. I shared more thoughts in this thread here recently.
