I've started a series of tutorials to demonstrate new tricks for beginners to advance their skills! You can find them here. Tutorial 1 - claustrophobia and using autopilot to climb and to cross impassable (impossible? ) terrain. Tutorial 2 - pushing things around. Tutorial 3 - jumping gaps with autopilot or with zapper exploits. Tutorial 4 - how to exploit the design mode constraint of Max World Size, to create anomalies in play mode. Tutorial 5 - exploring the Evil Eye effect. @retrograde has a series of excellent tutorials too: Descent one - currently undergoing repair . Until then, here's an undocumented copy: Spoiler: Descent one thumbnail Descent Demo v2 - another feast of well documented techniques including dropping, jumping, falling, etc. Descent Demo v3 - adds extra techniques to Demo v2. Bot-on-ball Demo - showcasing a collection of bot-on-ball techniques. Slider Jump Demo - how to make a bot jump over obstacles while it's riding a slider. The technique can also be used to lift a bot up one level. @D.S.Masters has some great tutorials too. Auto Pilot Demo - how to spot and prevent several different autopilot moves Auto Pilot 2 - how to do several different basic autopilot moves, including Hercules Push, ball crossing, fence walking, SBS and ramp climbing Ball Trick Demo - quick demo of ball riding and ball crossing Basic Mech Demo - quick demo of basic mechanisms Claustro Demo - a basic demonstration of Claustrophobia / low ceiling Metals Demo - a demonstration of the various metal parts in the game and how some can be used Metals 2 Demo - a follow up to Metals Demo What Not To Do - a tutorial on beginner mistakes and what not to do (this one was a big hit, and @Blockbuilder had some additional suggestions) @S. Nagy has some good demos of interesting techniques. They're not explained, but pretty easy to understand. If you get stuck on one, just post a request to its thread for some help. @cpw has some well documented collections of R-bot-specific tricks that have been discovered thus far: R-bot Tricks Demo. R-bot Tricks Demo II. R-bot Tricks Demo III. R-bot Tricks Demo IV. R-bot Tricks Demo V. Recommendations of individual levels: Coast by @PvB (autopilot feast). Auto walk by @Blue Flame (claustrophobia effect). Gate operator by @Ricko (delaying R bots with 1 block spaces at their body-level). Ramp climbing by @richardfu_. Wire walker by @Akira Wong. Spirits by @richardfu. Mini Pagoda by @meko. Hercules by @richardfu_. Zapper Walker by @gmacpro & @delator77 (new zapper walking trick & clever wedge work). Squat Drops by @Meko Guy (several unusual ways that B can drop to a lower elevation). Under R Tutorial by @cimarronline (more on the Evil Eye effect and its cousin the Raised Zapper Hack). The Shining by @Sun Eagle (clever ball work). Back and Forth by @Sun Eagle (more clever ball work). Design Lesson by @Don G Rowe (helpful tips for both designers and players). Zapper walking demo by @Anomynous (exploiting claustrophobia to achieve a great feat). If anyone else has similar tutorials or wants to recommend helpful levels, please feel free to post links to them in this thread. I'll also add them to this posting, so they don't get lost. for me @trids tutorials are great inspirations and fun. but those cards with helpful spoilers like @mekos "Right moment" work as a tutorial for me too. The difference is, that @meko designed the level and others wrote the spoilers (many thanks to all them involved!!!) my question now: am I allowed to name levels here, which because of their design and given spoilers worked to me as a tutorial, without being defined as Tutorial?
there are some helpful levels: Auto walk of Blue Flame , Gate operator of Ricko, Ramp climbing of richardfu_, Wire walker of Akira Wong, Spirits of richardfu , Mini Pagoda of meko, Hercules of richardfu_
... Yes please! The purpose of this thread is to provide an index to levels that you think might be helpful to other beginners following in your footsteps. Whether they're designed to be challenges or tutorials, either way. I personally think it would add some value if you could also mention what it was that you found helpful about a particular level that you're recommending. But there are no rules about that - just think of this as an opportunity to share, and feel free to do it your way.
@trids I'm thinking about, how to mention what for me was the learningeffect, because that is sort of probably unwished spoiler?
Perhaps, but since you're mentioning it here, and not in the thread of the actual level itself, I would say that it helps those looking for specific learning experiences (the people arriving at the level via this thread), while preserving the mystery and challenge for those who arrive at the level through other means.
I have discovered a secret about zapper bots in my level " the road to freedom" and also tried to reveal a new way of making B fly in the level "no walking" and yes see the mekorama ether discovered by @getepo(which I rediscovered) at work in the level "patience".......all in my album scary
@Gepeto i finally cracked a large part of the code of the headless bot movement...see the image below The Ether block chart
@Scare Crow Thanks for sharing. I have made a table like that too but it seems that we don't have the same results. But... I am not sure that's the good thread to discuss on that. I'm gonna open a new thread in the "Bugs and Feature requests" section (even if I don't really think it's a bug). Just the time for me to compile and expose stuffes...
You probably should've posted that in the Bugs and Future Requests subforum. This thread is for tutorials about techniques to play levels, etc. And if you post about making B fly, make the Motor go on the bottom of B. Also don't take credit for being the first to discover it, or describe it as a new glitch. I don't know who originally discovered it, though... But don't be discouraged; I'm sure that if you keep trying, you will eventually discover something new. Playing levels would also help, as you get to observe other glitches and gain experience, and so that you won't spend time finding a glitch and find out that someone else already discovered it in the past.
Thank you @Frenzies for the reply. However if you mark my words carefully I only said,"tried to reveal" and not "discovered" so I donot say that only I have discovered a way to make a bot fly.....but i mean that I have just tried to reveal a new way to do so.........forgive me if my words offends you in any way....and again THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! for posting a reply
I may be wrong but i assume this is the trick @richardfu used in his level "teleportation"(http://mekoramaforum.com/media/teleportation.1705/)
@Scare Crow Nice little level, but your question is more about the accuracy of the bug rather than a tutorial. Hence why you should probably start a new thread around it in the Bugs forum. We can then collectively decide whether it's worthy of being called an exploit. After this, your nice level creation could be posted here as a tutorial with all the background information for the learner's benefit.
@nGord You are probably right......this is just a presumed explanation....... So sure.....i shall shortly create a new thread for presumed explanations
For another new tutorial master album, here it is from @S. Nagy (you probably didn't missed it as it has flooded the most recent levels page with 8 pages of levels in 50 minutes )
Maybe its a bug. when you take Motor on the bottom of B, the B will flying. I think it will be interesting when you can still play the game even though the flying conditions. And how to play the Flying B? you can check my level! http://mekoramaforum.com/media/fly-away-tutor.3496/
Sliders can pass through single layered obstracles....see this in action here(http://mekoramaforum.com/media/barrier-tunneling.3476/)
Sliders can pass through obstacles only if they are not associated with a rail. Until recently I have been tricked by this too.
I am extremely sorry...i forgot to mention that....and yes another thing if you want to see new exploits still under research see the MEKORAMA EXPLOITS RESEARCH(http://mekoramaforum.com/threads/mekorama-exploits-research.205/)thread under bugs and feature requests
I think I have found a way to increase the length of time period of not getting zapped mentioned by @trids in his tutorial 3.....see this in action here(http://mekoramaforum.com/media/the-magical-pond.3704/)and for more information about this refer to the MEKORAMA EXPLOITS RESEARCH (http://mekoramaforum.com/threads/mekorama-exploits-research.205/#post-1284)
