If you're talking about this site's trophy points, well then they dictate your member status. This is discussed on page 10 of the Welcome to MekoramaForum document in this thread. For example, below your avatar and username is written "New Member." In order to progress to "Member" you would need at least 5 points. And you can earn these points based on the trophy points scale listed here. But they are essentially inconsequential and no one really gets excited by them.
