I don't remember how I went to this forum (maybe Google), but as I tried to make some promotion for the game around me, I have discovered that the forum is not referenced from the official website (http://www.mekorama.com/) and not from the game... Only Facebook and twitter are specified The problem: it seems that this forum is the only living community of the game. Facebook and Twitter are not up to date for a long time. I think it's too bad for the game as the forum shows a real living community but the only link for a new gamer is some outdated social network group. What do you think about that?
Yeah, I noticed the same when I started my documentation of the game a little while back. This was the summary I have made thus far: Websites http://www.mekorama.com (official) http://www.mekorama.com/faq/ http://mekorama.net (fan) http://mekoramaforum.com (fan) Social Media https://www.facebook.com/mekorama (official) https://twitter.com/MartinMagni (official) https://www.facebook.com/mekoramalevels/ (fan, mostly a curation of mekorama.net) https://twitter.com/MekoramaLevels (fan, mostly a curation of mekorama.net) https://www.instagram.com/mekorama/ (fan) https://plus.google.com/communities/105196223583318079815 (fan) https://www.reddit.com/r/Mekorama/ (fan) Game Sites http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=287555 Instructions http://mekorama.net/builder/ http://mekoramaforum.com/#mekorama.6 Walk Throughs http://www.appunwrapper.com/2016/05/14/mekorama-walkthrough-guide/ Personal Fan Sites http://www.appunwrapper.com/2016/05/17/mekorama-player-made-bonus-levels/
As you mentioned, the official sites have not seen any new content since @Martin Magni announced that he was going off on a much needed vacation. I hope nothing bad happened to him. Although, he was apparently "last seen" on this forum on Tuesday at 12:12 PM.
Wow... That's an impressive list... Thanks for sharing! You should have added a section called "Bigest community" That's maybe very very very long vacations... somewhere out of an Internet access... Seriously, I long to hear from him too.
In fact, I understand that some people come to the community with so many levels they have made alone on their equipement... That seemed to be the case of @S. Nagy as of mentionned in this thread. People just don't know there is a living community somewhere: they discover it by chance... or not
I found Mekorama on the App Store, then I searched Google to find more news. I found this forum and Uploader. I also opened a page on Mekorama on my website, in Italian language.
@Martin Magni pinned the following text to the top of the official Mekorama Facebook page: "Someone already asked your question, and I already answered it: http://www.mekorama.com/faq/ (But you're still a beautiful and unique snowflake!)" In the FAQ, he listed both this forum and the www.mekorama.net site - which is essentially only a repository site for uploads/downloads - no forum. Despite the FAQ and the above message being the first thing people see, the most common comment/question on pretty much every post (including the one above!) is "where can I get more levels?" Maybe better for those people not to find this site. So, perhaps, what we could suggest is for @Martin Magni to place a title page in the game with a quick identification of both the four other pages in the game (especially the menu page) and some of the online extensions to the game. Yes, there technically is a fifth page that only has Mekorama.com written on it, but you have to hold that page open in order to read it.
I just found another website (a Facebook group) that seems to be pretty active: https://www.facebook.com/groups/554575428066579/ I'm not sure what @Martin Magni 's plans are regarding the evolution of the game. He might want anyone and everyone to create new and personal offshoots for the game. Personally, I think he should consider encouraging one big central repository that he controls and can get some official help to curate. I hope the reception to the game by the public met his dreams and that he is not underwhelmed or overwhelmed.
@nGord that FB group seems really interesting. Well... The only problem is that I'm not really confident in FB so I need to step up on that way... Then you're right. Martin should consider a more centralized and controlled repository. In fact I think the concept of the card game has been thought to this but for the rest social networks seems an easier solution as everywhere...
I'm not a fan of Facebook either. It might be easier for the lazy majority, but it pales in potential to what a dedicated site like this one can do for the game. I think a serious marketing campaign to direct the future of the game will be needed soon. That, or we all just take the best aspects from each site for ourselves.
Wow... a chinese website! Some content seems interesting. We miss an internationalisation system on mekoramaforum.com
How to join the group? http://tieba.baidu.com/group/index?id=1641545122 Seems like you can find more creation after joining.
No. I tried once but it was somehow identified as an ad and got removed... Tieba is becoming more tricky now.
I think @Martin Magni should add some kind of integration with this site. I am finding too complex the level management now... Duplicates? Searching? Alerts about featured level?
Yeah this is by far the best community hub. I haven't checked the FB mekorama group (don't use Facebook) but the Google+ mekorama group gets a modest amount of activity. BTW the link is on the main site but it's in the faq section http://www.mekorama.com/faq/ Also it would be nice if the game prevents duplicates from being added.
Thanks, I have the Google+ link in my list above too. Glad to know that it is active. About the duplicates, sure that would be nice if there was a way to search card titles and authors in the app. As it stands now, with nearly a thousand levels in my app, sometimes I need to upload a duplicate temporarily (to check something out) as it is faster to do that than go try to hunt it down by thumbnail alone.
