For the other players who didn't see the shortcut that @乌鸦嘴 showed me via email. I attempted the shortcut numerous times and wasn't able to achieve it. The fix for the shortcut is easy but I'll wait until another player finds it. Game on.

Having watched the complex caption i see why I struggled to see the full gameplay, and in particular i missed the clever stuff with the second top ball. I won without any balls and with assist from Pillarbot; the ending being the same as caption.
