For the full solution you may refer to the video here: Spoiler: Tutorial video In order of occurrence: 1. Disruptor Stairs Spoiler 1.1 A fully automatic version of the Mini Climb (see the 1st demo). Eyes / zappers are half-sunken and therefore exert extra pressure on the bot underneath, disrupting R’s height detection momentarily. 1.2 Due to the disruption, R would treat the path in front as a dead end. This creates a walkable tile that repels incoming R-bots from a specific direction. Both inspired by an unintentional glitch in Vessel by @Ricko . The fully stable setup using an overhead zapper is first published in The Betrayal by @cpw . 2. Tiptoe freeze / climb Spoiler 2.1 An extension of @richardfu_ ’s Tiptoe trick (see the 3rd demo). Stacking two upward staircases would freeze an incoming R while extending his legs. First published in Tiptoe by @cpw . 2.2 The extension allows one to insert another object under the bot to lift him up. Another R-bot can also support the frozen R from beneath. Note that the sunken zapper is required to lower the incoming R. First published in The Ladder by @cpw . 3. Disruptor Stairs (manual) Spoiler The manual version of 1.2. The nearby draggable, when activated, disrupts R as he passes by, forcing him to turn away. First discovered in World is Round? by @Block builder as an alternative solution. 4. Slight Delay Spoiler R’s slow movement causes him to lag behind and chase the slider. First published in Slight Delay by @Block builder . 5. Slider Fall Spoiler 5.1 R is unable to detect the removed draggable after the downward staircase, which causes him to fall. First published in City Park by @Ricko . 5.2 (Not a recommended trick) In the alternative path, pull down the lift when R is halfway between the stone block and the draggable. With the right timing, R would fall down. Not recommended due to the picky timing and the non-specificity of its application, i.e. it could ruin a lot of existing levels. Spoiler: video of 5.2 6. Bender Bot (motor switch) Spoiler A manual version of @vince ’s Bender Bot trick (see the 1st demo). First published in this demo. 7. Stairway to Heaven Spoiler Inspired by @PvB ’s Wall Climber B trick, this is a similar stunt specifically designed for R. Note that it is only consistent with a pillar R and can be difficult to stabilize. First published in the Discord server by @cpw .
Nice research I think I say the same thing in all your demos so this is a summary: Fun and informative demo/level and great documentation. I think this is great for both players and creators. Thanks.
Thanks everyone! And good to see that no one is interested in that alternative evil trick for #5. That could break a lot of R puzzles......
The slight delay trick is still annoying, but it's surprising that you can find so many R-bot tricks!
@richardfu_ I managed that the first time. It really is just a matter of knowing when to release R with the slider motion. @cpw I did #5 the evil way, then read the discription. I agree that it shouldn't be used.
@richardfu_ Yes, should have named it Slight Annoyance...... @Block builder And yes, that basically means any R can fall as long as there's a draggable on the edge. Takes some considerable effort to nail the timing, but definitely could be abused almost everywhere......
Roooooh... That last trick is always such amazing and I think you've find a way to make it more stabilized (with the motor). Thanks for this great collection of tricks!
