Hi all. Just posted this over at the Level Creation Help Forum, here. It is playable, so have a go, and I'd be happy to add any comments or insights to the thread. Cheers!

P.S. The shortcut is intentionally included in this one. :D

So the "dzine" part of the title says it all... ande yeah, I spotted that shortcut right off the bat. I had a little trouble with the stairs, but everything else was easy. And is that really a hercules push inside that building?
    • D.S.Masters
Answered my own question. Just did it the 'intended' way, without using the shortcut... but when B does the ToA, he only lands on that metal beam about 1/4 of the time.
    • Don G Rowe
@D.S.Masters Yep, that's intentional as well to illustrate for folks why the trick is discouraged as part of a design. Check my thread for more details.

Are you real? Just a few levels ago you told someone else the ToA was counter intuitive and now it's required in your level? What was the point of the push as both lifts go to the same level?
    • D.S.Masters
@Don G Rowe It depends - the way that you have it designed, there's nothing to guide B in his fall (and he lands head first anyway). The way that @vince did it in "Square One III", B is guided in his fall. But yes, a well-designed level shouldn't really have tricks (other than something like autopilot, because that's almost impossible to avoid) or shortcuts... it almost encourages laziness.
    • Don G Rowe
@gmacpro It's an instructional example illustrating common tricks and frequently seen shortcuts. There's a supporting video and descriptions in a thread I posted over on the Level Creation Help Forum.

Sorry for the confusion, was just hoping to gather some additional insights here . :(

Okay makes sense as I skimmed the link. I have no problem with ToA as it's just another trick like others. I can usually recognize a newbie's level (without knowing they are new) because they are either lots of zapper bots, free draggables or golfing type levels. Thanks for the level.

@gmacpro OR sliders that reach the ground ... ;)

@Don G Rowe Yep, and I think we need a few more level examples from you on this sort of thing, king of like @cpw 's tutorials on R bot tricks. Deliberately and properly done tricks are one thing, but when they're unintentional it can kind of ruin a level. And yeah, I was yanking your chain a little earlier, since almost every trick / exploit is a variation on autopilot. ;)

I'll say it again, thanks for this tutorial/welcome gift. Am loving the Hercules push. :)

I watched the video. I know about most of the tricks. Heard about TOA many times (too many) but i don't master it, and don't intend to either. I do not use it when designing my levels.
    • Don G Rowe
@Sculron Thanks. This was more for the newcomers. I can still remember how impenetrable the levels on the forum looked to me when I joined. :)
    • D.S.Masters
@Don G Rowe Oh lord, tell me about it... I still can't do most of @richardfu_ 's levels, and I think the only one of @Block builder 's that I managed was his original "The Daltons".
