The sensor is a very capricious design. Even the location of the B bot on top affects its performance. I tried to move the initial position B of the bot to another place - and because of this, the sensor stopped working. And if you add a slider, it can also deactivate the sensor. Regarding your questions, maybe I misunderstood something. If I understand correctly, then: yes, the sensors are most likely mekorama bugs. There are many kinds of them. A lot of authors have been researching sensors and are still finding new types of sensors.
