The Castle I

This time Bob is on vacation in Old England. Old castles fascinate him. But in such an old castle a door creaks. And now and then something gets stuck. But that can't scare Bob, because in old walls there are also secret doors and certainly treasures. Here we go!

      First impression, cool design

@BlueDragon - I'll change it and see if works better? My guess is it will work better as I've made many levels and never have a sticky rotor.... Let me try...

Easy gameplay, but so much fun because of the great design,:D:rotf:.

@BlueDragon - For the upper motor - by simply deleting the wedge beside the motor the rotor works lovely - very smooth. You may think that a wedge is diagonal and empty on one side but not all blocks have the physical action that you would. The best example of this is a sideway fence. If a ball rolls over a fence it appears that the ball will stop in the hole but the ball rolls right on past.

The door motors had more issues. The two wedges beside the top and bottom motor plus the entire fence wall. After they are all removed then the door opens smoothly.

You wanted to look into the workings of the Mekorama's engine - start with that.

If you have created an adventure.
      And already declared its easy.
      Means its 4 Star level.
Because player don't have to think much to win the level.

But the Motor stucks, it decreases the quality of the level as well as fun and it becomes 3 Star level.

      However, I enjoyed!
      Nice R's boat.

      Hi @Meko Guy,

I built various experimental setups and tested engines there. No stones at all around an engine with the exception of the mounting stone is probably the ideal solution, although my tests did not cause any problems with the angle stones. They only prevent doors from opening in the wrong direction and then tilting. Mekorama behaves very strangely with different stones. If you start the test level, everything runs smoothly. If you start the same level again, it gets stuck. Well, you have to live with these quirks and avoid them if possible. Anyway, thanks for the info. :)

@Meko Guy : The Castle Ia two posts over that or on my Homepage.

@BlueDragon - After I found your homepage - yes that is so much better. It's nice to see levels that work smoothly versus levels that can work. Remember, any block beside a motor can cause issues. I've played levels in the past where I was not able to move the rotor at all and therefore couldn't win. Of course, the author said that was part of the challenge but poor design shouldn't be confused with challenging.

@Meko Guy : You see that I have build design around the motor with one block free in each direction and nice that it works now for you.
I just have to find a way that you can't open the doors the wrong way. But I'm still working on that. Thanks for trying it out. :)

      @BlueDragon -
The doors only open in one direction (inward) for me?
    • BlueDragon
@Meko Guy : Yes, in the other directioy they can stuck and make noise. That's what I'm trying to prevent.

I have on my Homepage a version Ib, there I make more designdetails. If somebody wants to try it out, then he is welcome. There is also a walkthrough to Ib (video below on my homepage). :)
