Well... the pillars was the only thing closer to use as coins!

I can get R to knock down the three balls R can access by bumping R with the sliders, but then I'm stuck. What am I missing?

Oh, I see. I was expecting some crazy glitch. I'm guess ironically I'm not as much of a fan of this way because it's kind of guess and check/hidden. But overall I enjoyed the level, great design like everyone has said, great ending, and also the theme was fantastic and instantly recognizable. I didn't see how the ending was going to happen and was pleasently surprised. Really creative!
