3-10-4

Did you ever wonder how can a blind R Bot walk? Well... He's got in fact a simple algorithm and maybe not what you're expecting. Going to a win spot seems easy first and is possible but... you should try before rejoicing :)

      5 stars for the interesting observation. Is it supposed to be hard to win? Because I won it easily, but I pushed the bot at one point.

      @Frenzies (and others): you can find a lot of way to win (and specialy if you push R to it). But what if you try to win just by blocking R Bot path (or being snubbed by him :))? This is a kind of experimental but playable game for curious minds. :cool:

      I've found really interesting the way R Bot reacts to several blocking stages on the 10 steps path. It is not the way we could expect but it always ends up to the 3-10-4 steps patterns. I tried to find out a specific algorithm (kind of a global equation) without an "if...then...else" pattern but I didn't figured it out. Difficult to predict futures behaviors... But I think I've grabbed enough patterns to be able to predict some. :D

      Wow, didn't know that the no eye bot actually follow the stone track=D. Before this , I thought they are unconscious bot which turn randomly sometimes. Well.... i guess this will changes the game ,like more creators would use no eye bot in their level

      How did you find this?it's really interesting... (it's also a big level 48 "need a nudge")
    • meko
      @TR O, R doesn't follow the stone track,but he follows a sequence.i've put R in a grass camp, (also gepeto says this->),the sequence is 3 11 5 4 11 5 4 11 5 4 11 5 4 11 5 4... good discover,gepeto,i don't know how this can be used in a level,but i am sure someone will use this
    • TR O
      @meko Well, that was awkward.......=P
      The fact is I was out while this page was on... I commented it after I got back...
      so...didn't even noticed that orz. Thanks for reminding tho
    • Gepeto
      @meko, @TR O - yes the stone track is just to show up the path. I have tried with grass, stone, brick, metal... the pattern still the same. Meko, the way I counted the path is not the same than your. I do count such like this :

      It seemed to me more relevant and of course that's the 3-10-4 title origin.
      I have begun a level which was weird (that's how I have been stucked by this strange behavior and dug on that...). I have noted that sometimes R Bot changed its sequence because of a block on its left of whatever. I don't have all keys but if I could I'd like to watch over the shoulder of @Martin Magni to understand what's going on behind its code :p
      I'll post probably more later. Meantime, if you've found something relevant tell us :)

      OK I was wondering why this was so tough. On my Android R only goes 3-3-3-3, so forever in a circle unless you bump him and then he does a different number of steps then back to always 3.
    • Gepeto
      @B Hill You meant a 3 blocks square (2 steps, turn right, 2 steps,...) or a 4 blocks square (3 steps, turn, 3 steps,...)? I am asking this because it happened to me with a 3 blocks square but after a while it ended up with 1 step, turn, etc... I'll try to check that ;)
    • B Hill
      @Gepeto OK, I am not crazy, I did the level like 5 times and B did 3 steps then turn always. Now he is doing your pattern above. I did some other levels in between. Now went and did another level, went back to this one and he is doing 3 steps and turn again!
    • B Hill
      Yeah, if B is doing only 3 steps, exit this level, do another one, then come back to this one and B does the 3-10-4 pattern. Bizarre!

      I noticed some erratic pattern of a headless R on @TR O 's Gas Mask Killers level too. Well done to find the actual pattern and put it into an interesting (albeit simple) game.
    • Gepeto
      I have checked some behaviors of R and built another experimental level. But I am not sure to release it as a final work. It's disturbing to watch R moving without an obvious pattern... Check it out, you need to be patient and to not miss the point :confused::

      But I am sure some of you guys can do a better job than me :p

      Give it to Yoyo, he'll beat the pants off all of us.
